Procedures | Face | Cheek Bone Reduction cheek bone reduction surgery

THE TYPICAL PATIENT

Anyone with large prominent cheekbones ( malar bones, zygoma bones) that desire reduction or smaller size, better contoured cheekbones.

This can be done to correct some unevenness from one side to the other.

THE PROCEDURE

A small incision is placed about one inch long inside the mouth and a space is made up and over the bones to be reduced.

The excess cheekbone is reduced by grinding this down or making cuts in the bone and removing enlarged pieces.
A general anesthesia is used and you are completely asleep.
The operation takes about 2 hours for both sides.
You see your results within days after the swelling subsides, and then this just gets better over time.
No dressings, drains, or garments are needed.
This can be combined with other cosmetic surgical procedures.

THE RECOVERY

You can go back to work or your usual activities within several days.

You can shower and wash the next day.
There is moderate pain than improves quickly.
Swelling is moderate and peaks a two days then disappears rapidly.
Minimal or no bruising is the usual.
There is some numbness on the cheeks that gets better over time.

THE RESULT

Beautiful, balanced and proportioned width of the upper face compared to the middle and lower part of the face.

A more rounded straight contour to the face with less prominent cheekbones.
  No visible incisions.
A natural result that does not look artificial or unusual.
A long lasting result that is permanent.
